Dr. Haider Al-Khateeb is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security at Aston University's Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Research Centre and Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD in Cyber Security from the University of Bedfordshire (2011), a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (2005), and a PG Cert in Academic Practice (2014). His research focuses on innovative AI-driven cyber security solutions, trustworthy systems, adversarial behaviors, and privacy rights for vulnerable groups. He has extensive experience in multidisciplinary projects, including collaborations with psychologists, law enforcement, and healthcare professionals to address cybercrime impacts.
His teaching roles include module leadership for Aston's MBA Cyber Security Risk and Strategy, undergraduate Information Security courses, and MSc Cyber Security Management program development. He delivers industry-accredited training in cyber security risk management and serves as an external examiner at the University of the West of England.
Dr. Al-Khateeb’s work emphasizes real-world applications, such as anomaly detection in industrial control systems, ransomware mitigation using machine learning, and digital forensics for cyber-disability hate crimes. His research has led to over 60 peer-reviewed publications, funded projects with SMEs, and awards for best papers and teaching excellence. Key collaborations include the NCSC’s CyberFirst initiative and industry partnerships for smart city security and supply chain resilience.
He actively supervises PhD students exploring technical and operational cyber security challenges, with a focus on IoT, CPS, and ethical hacking methodologies. His work bridges academia and industry, addressing emerging threats through cutting-edge technical solutions and policy-driven frameworks.
