Haelim Choi Allen serves as Associate Professor of Art in the Department of Art and Design at Samford University's School of the Arts, bringing over two decades of teaching experience across secular and Christian higher education institutions.
Her educational background includes an MFA in painting and sculpture from the University of Maryland at College Park, complemented by MA and MRE qualifications. Allen coordinates the Foundation program for the Art and Design Department while teaching two-dimensional and three-dimensional art disciplines, Art History, and Art Appreciation from freshman to senior-capstone levels.
As a colorist tradition artist, Allen creates installations and paintings exploring complex identity questions through visual narratives. Her work has been exhibited internationally across Washington D.C., New York City, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Austin, Memphis, Jackson (TN), and Seoul, South Korea. She actively engages in scholarly discourse through presentations on visual art, beauty, and sacred art practices in both American and Korean contexts.
Allen maintains ongoing relationships with former students and serves as Foundation Coordinator for the department, demonstrating deep commitment to art education and mentorship within Samford's academic community.
