Hadi Arman

Hadi Arman is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), College of Sciences. He serves as the X-ray Manager for the X-Ray Diffraction Laboratory, a position he has held since 2008.

Dr. Arman received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Clemson University in 2008 under Dr. William T. Pennington. His primary research focuses on crystal engineering with particular emphasis on hydrogen and halogen bonding interactions. As departmental X-ray crystallographer, he provides essential structural analysis services to researchers across multiple disciplines.

His publication record demonstrates expertise in inorganic chemistry, organic synthesis, and materials science, with 13 publications in 2018 alone across journals including Inorganic Chemistry, ACS Catalysis, and Journal of the American Chemical Society. These works explore crystal structures, catalytic mechanisms, and molecular interactions, often in collaboration with the Tonzetich Group, Larionov Group, and Doyle Group.

Under Dr. Arman's management, the XRD Lab processed 142 data sets and determined 101 crystal structures in 2018. The laboratory features advanced instrumentation including the Rigaku Saturn 724 Diffractometer and Synergy S Dual Micro-Focus Source Diffractometer (funded by NSF award #1920057), capable of temperature-controlled crystallography from 98-298 K.
