Ha Nguyen is an Assistant Professor in International Business at the Department of Strategy and Marketing, University of Sussex Business School, since 2022. She holds a PhD in International Business (2023, University of Vaasa, Finland) and an MSc in International Business (2015, UCD Michael Smurfit Business School, Ireland), both with distinction. Her research focuses on cross-national differences, political economy, deglobalisation, and foreign divestment strategies, employing quantitative methodologies. She has received grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Academy of Finland, and BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grant.
Her work has been recognized with awards including the Pavlos Dimitratos Best Dissertation Award (2023) and the Michael Z Brooke Prize (2022). She advises on global strategy, strategic entrepreneurship, and international business courses. Before academia, she worked in multinational companies across industries like steel, coffee, and financial consultancy in Japan, Ireland, and Vietnam. She co-founded a Nordic-Japanese quality assurance service for heavy industrial companies.
Her research highlights include analyzing foreign divestment dynamics, political risk impacts, and cultural friction effects. She actively reviews for journals like Journal of International Management and Journal of Business Research.
