H E Hinson

H E Hinson, MD, MCR is a Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and a Neurointensivist at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. She serves as a national leader in equity initiatives within neurology and is actively involved in research focused on acute neurotrauma and precision medicine approaches.

She is deeply involved in biomarker discovery in acute clinical settings, particularly using mass spectrometry for global discovery proteomics. A significant portion of her work addresses health equity, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQI+ health in neurology, where she founded the American Academy of Neurology's LGBTQI section in 2017.

The Hinson Lab at UCSF focuses on five key research areas: predictive models in traumatic brain injury, STAT-BRIDGE decision support tools for TBI, autonomic dysfunction after acute brain injury, clinical trials in acute brain injury and spinal cord injury, and protein biomarker discovery in neurotrauma.
