معرفی
Göran Karlsson is a Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Laboratory Medicine, where he serves as Research Team Manager for Stem Cells and Leukemia and Principal Investigator for StemTherapy: National Initiative on Stem Cells for Regenerative Therapy. He manages the Single-Cell Genomics Facility within the Division of Molecular Hematology.
His research focuses on hematopoietic stem cell biology, leukemia, and single-cell analysis techniques. Dr. Karlsson's work spans molecular hematology, stem cell differentiation, and the bone marrow microenvironment, with particular emphasis on chronic myeloid leukemia and stem cell therapies.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward applying single-cell multiomics approaches to understand cellular heterogeneity in leukemia and normal hematopoiesis. His research bridges basic science with clinical applications, particularly in understanding therapy response and resistance mechanisms in blood cancers. His work has significant implications for the development of more effective stem cell-based regenerative therapies.
Dr. Karlsson is actively involved in the research community through seminar organization and participation, including the LUCC Blood, Lymphoma & Myeloma seminar series and Unistem Day events. He currently leads a major project funded by the Swedish Research Council focused on predicting therapy insensitivity in leukemic stem cells.
He has supervised numerous students and collaborators in the field of hematology and stem cell research, contributing to the training of the next generation of scientists in this critical area of medical research.
