Gábor Bolonyai

Gábor Bolonyai is an Associate Professor and Head of the Greek Department at Eötvös Loránd University. His research focuses on the reception of Greek literature in the Renaissance, including the Corvina Library and history of Greek-Latin dictionaries. He specializes in Greek tragedies, Attic orators and law, and Aristophanes' translations by János Arany.

Key grants and projects led include Corvina Graeca (OTKA 2009–2012), Greek Culture in Italy and Hungary (OTKA-NKFP 2015–2019), and contributions to critical editions of János Arany's works (OTKA 2010–2013). His awards include the János Bolyai Scholarship (2000–2002) and Széchenyi Scholarship (2002–2005).

Publications highlight his expertise in textual criticism, manuscript studies, and Renaissance scholarship. He has extensively analyzed the Corvina Library and Greek-Latin lexica, contributing to understanding classical canon formation and humanist practices.
