Dr. György Kovács is an Associate Professor at the University of Szeged, affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Finance Department. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Szeged's Doctoral School of Economics and has been active in academic roles since 1994.

Kovács' research focuses on the intersection of economic history, fiscal policy, and financial theory. His work includes legal history analyses of pre-World War II Hungarian economic institutions and investigations into the historical evolution of professional orders in public administration. Current projects examine the foundations of good governance through public service development.
Kovács has held significant administrative roles at the University of Szeged, including Vice Dean of Education (2017-2020), Deputy Head of the Institute of Financial and Economic Analysis (2004-2006), and Rector's Advisor for Key Economic Affairs since 2022. He serves on multiple academic committees and councils.
