Dr. György Vida serves as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Economics and Economic Development, Faculty of Economics, University of Szeged since 2021, following his prior role as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economic and Social Geography at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics (2015-2021). His academic foundation includes a PhD in Earth Sciences (2020), Certified Economist (2015), and Certified Geographer (2013), all from the University of Szeged.

Dr. Vida's research critically examines economic restructuring in Central and Eastern Europe's less developed regions, analyzing regional development traps through socio-economic correlations and spatial dynamics of tourism. His work integrates geographical and economic methodologies to address territorial inequalities, with emphasis on sustainable urban development and resource-efficient city planning in post-socialist contexts.

As a dedicated mentor, Dr. Vida guided students to first prize and special prizes in the OTDK academic competition. His research funding includes NKFI OTKA project 135546 on resource-efficient cities, the "Territorial Inequalities in Digitalization" research group, and multiple EFOP/KÖFOP initiatives focused on regional development, smart city infrastructure, and water tourism between Hungary and Serbia.
Dr. Vida actively shapes academic discourse as editor-in-chief of the MTA Regional Sciences Committee Newsletter and through memberships in the Regional Studies Association, Hungarian Economic Society, and European Regional Science Association. He currently leads Tourism and Hospitality programs at SZTE and previously served as Secretary of the Doctoral School of Economics.
