Dr. habil. Brigitta Zsótér is an Associate Professor at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Engineering, where she currently serves as Head of the Institute of Engineering Management and Economics (2023-) and Center Manager of the Engineering Talent Center (2024-). She has been a dedicated member of the university's academic community since 2006, previously holding positions as Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics and Rural Development (2018-2022, 2011-2018) and in various academic roles within the Faculty of Engineering and Agricultural Faculty.
Her educational background includes:
- Dr. habil. (2017) in Business and Organizational Sciences from University of Debrecen
- PhD (2010) in Earth Sciences from University of Pécs
- Economics degree (2003) from University of Szeged
- Humanities and Teacher degree (2007) from University of Szeged
- Additional qualifications in human resource management, teaching, and accounting
Dr. Zsótér's research focuses on the intersection of economics, rural development, and engineering management. Her work bridges theoretical economic principles with practical applications in business, finance, and regional development. She has developed a strong research program examining corporate finance, agricultural economics, and urban geography, with particular emphasis on how these fields intersect with engineering and technical disciplines. Her interdisciplinary approach has led to collaborations across multiple departments and institutions throughout Central Europe, with a special focus on regional economic development and sustainable business practices.

As an academic advisor, Dr. Zsótér has mentored over 50 students in scientific research projects through the TDK (Scientific Student Circle) program since 2006. Her students have won numerous awards at regional and national competitions, including first, second, and third prizes at the SZTE MK TDK conferences and recognition at the MÉTE OTDK events. She has secured funding through various programs including ERASMUS, CEEPUS, TEMPUS, TÁMOP, EFOP, STEM, ÚNKP, NTP, Interreg-IPA, SUSTA, VISYFARM, and EKÖP.
Dr. Zsótér founded and serves as President of the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Economics and Social Sciences (2023-). She is actively involved in multiple academic communities as a member of the Regional Science Association International, Hungarian Regional Scientific Society, and Association for Marketing Education and Research (all since 2024). She also serves as an alternate member of the Senate of the University of Szeged (2022-) and participates in the Agricultural Economics Working Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
