Dr. Ferenc Farkas is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Szeged's Faculty of Engineering since 2012, previously serving as Associate Professor (2011-2012). His extensive academic career spans multiple Hungarian institutions including Szolnok College, Tessedik Sámuel College, and Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences.
Education:
- MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Mechanical Engineering (1980-1985)
- University Doctor from Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Mechanical Engineering (1991-1994)
- PhD from Debrecen University of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (1996-1999)
Dr. Farkas specializes in mechanical engineering with a strong focus on renewable energy systems, alternative fuels for internal combustion engines, and sustainable transportation. His research has consistently addressed environmental impacts of energy systems, particularly examining plant-based biofuels and their applications in agricultural machinery and automotive systems. His work bridges theoretical engineering principles with practical applications in energy efficiency and environmental protection.
His research portfolio includes significant projects such as the HORIZON2020 ELIPTIC project on electrification of public transport in cities, the Renewable Energy National Laboratory project, and multiple OTKA-funded research initiatives dating back to 1991. His publications reflect a consistent trajectory in advancing sustainable energy solutions for transportation and agricultural applications.
