معرفی
Professor István Bíró serves as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Szeged since July 1, 2017, and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering since July 1, 2021. Born January 25, 1960 in Túrkeve, he maintains an active academic career spanning over three decades across multiple Hungarian institutions including Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, Tessedik Sámuel College, and Szolnok College before joining the University of Szeged in 2009.
His educational background includes:
- Certified Agricultural Mechanical Engineer from Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences (1979-1984)
- PhD in Technical Discipline from Szent István University (1999)
- Habilitated Doctor from Szent István University (2016)
Professor Bíró's primary research focuses on biomechanics, particularly human knee joint mechanics and kinematics. His work bridges engineering principles with biological systems to develop mechanical models of living organisms. The Biomechanics Research Group he leads investigates knee joint biomechanics, sports technique optimization through movement analysis, rehabilitation support using biomechanical methods, and performance-enhancing sports equipment development. His research extends to mechanical engineering applications including dynamic modeling of pneumatic artificial muscles, analysis of oscillating systems, and steel structure stress analysis.
His international collaborations include partnerships with the Savaria Institute of Technology at ELTE, Doctoral School of Security Sciences at Óbuda University, and Faculty of Sports Sciences at Ningbo University, China. These collaborations have produced significant publications in biomechanics and mechanical engineering journals with substantial impact factors.
Professor Bíró's teaching responsibilities encompass:
- Mechanics I-III (Statics, Strength of Materials, Kinematics) for undergraduate programs in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Technical Management
- Elasticity and Vibration for master's programs
- Machine Elements and Computer Modeling and Simulation
He maintains active leadership roles including membership in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1999, serving on the University of Szeged Senate since 2017, and chairing the Faculty of Engineering Council since 2017. He also participates in the Hungarian Rector's Conference Technical Committee and various foundation boards supporting engineering education and innovation.
