Professor Gyuchan Thomas Jun is a Professor of Sociotechnical System Design at the School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University, UK. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Yonsei University, South Korea. His research focuses on applying systems thinking to healthcare system design, integrating digital health and AI innovations. He leads the NIHR-funded DECODE project exploring machine learning for care coordination in learning disability populations. Jun co-founded the Human Factors and Complex Systems Research Group and directs the Systemsthinking Lab. His advisory roles include the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Safe Complex Systems Programme and the Korean Society of System Safety.
Research interests include healthcare system safety, participatory design, and AI ethics in healthcare. He bridges disciplines like system science, behavioral science, and implementation science to improve healthcare outcomes. Notable projects address maternal care disparities, long-term condition management, and resilient healthcare systems.
