Gyorgy Gergely is a Professor at the Department of Cognitive Science, Central European University and Principal Investigator at the Cognitive Development Center. He holds concurrent roles as an Academic Research Faculty Member at University College London/The Anna Freud Centre, London since 2007. His research focuses on cognitive and socio-emotional development in infancy, cultural learning mechanisms, action understanding, theory of mind, and developmental psychopathology.
- Education: BSc (London School of Economics, 1978), MPhil (UCL, 1980), PhD (Columbia University, 1986), Clinical Child Psychology qualification (HIETE University, 1997), and advanced degrees in Hungary (D.Sc. 2002, Dr. Habil. 2006).
Research interests bridge cognitive science, clinical psychology, and psychoanalytic theory, with emphasis on how children acquire cultural tools and social cognition. His work explores developmental trajectories in both typical and atypical populations, integrating experimental, clinical, and theoretical frameworks.

Led the Baby Lab and contributes to the Cognitive Development Center. Engaged in interdisciplinary projects examining moral diversity and social cognition, as seen in his participation in workshops like 'The Cognitive Bases of Moral Diversity' (2021).
