Gwen Grewal is an Assistant Professor of Ancient Philosophy at The New School for Social Research, specializing in Plato, Ancient Philosophy, and Aesthetics with a focus on fashion and translation. She holds a PhD in Philosophy & Classics from Tulane University (2010) and a BA in Philosophy & Classics from Sarah Lawrence College (2006).

Her research explores the intersection of philosophy with language, poetry, and cultural practices like fashion. She has published extensively on Platonic dialogues, translating works such as Phaedo and Euthydemus, while examining existential themes and their modern reception.
Recent publications include the monograph Fashion | Sense: On Philosophy & Fashion (2022) and translations of Plato’s dialogues. She has also edited Poetic (Mis)quotations in Plato (2022) and contributed essays on topics ranging from Heidegger’s metaphysics to Aristophanes’ comedic portrayal of Socrates.
