Dr. Guy Baldwin is a Lecturer in UK Human Rights & Public Law at the Department of Law, University of Manchester. His research focuses on comparative constitutional law, judicial review dynamics, and the intersection of human rights with democratic systems. He actively contributes to discussions on LGBTQ+ rights, religious freedom, and proportionality principles in legal frameworks.
His work examines topics such as citizenship deprivation in Australia/UK, Japanese judiciary's role in minority rights, and the balance between state authority and individual liberties during public health crises. Baldwin has reviewed major legal texts including Rosalind Dixon’s *Responsive Judicial Review* and John Adenitire’s *A General Right to Conscientious Exemption*.
Recent articles highlight his exploration of constitutional accountability mechanisms across jurisdictions and the evolving role of courts in democratic accountability. He currently leads a major research project: *Ensuring Constitutional Accountability in the UK, Australia and Canada* (2024–2027), funded by the university. Baldwin collaborates internationally, particularly in Japanese legal systems and comparative constitutional scholarship.
