Gustavo Striker is an Associate Professor of Plant Physiology at the Department of Applied Biology and Food, University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and Director of the Master's in Plant Production program at UBA's Graduate School of Agronomy. He previously held adjunct roles at the University of Western Australia (UWA), including Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Agriculture and Environment (2014–2023) and Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Plant Biology (2014–2017). He earned his Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from UBA in 2008, specializing in experimental plant ecophysiology.
His research focuses on plant responses to environmental stresses such as waterlogging, submergence, and sequential stressors like drought following waterlogging. Key areas include hypoxic stress recovery, flood tolerance in crops and forage species, and the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying plant adaptation to salinity and waterlogging interactions.
Recent publications highlight his work on oxygen transport dynamics in flooded plants, soybean yield under waterlogging, and saline waterlogging tolerance mechanisms in halophytes. His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable agriculture and climate resilience.
