His research examines medieval sacred spaces as arenas for protest and social action, focusing on the High and Late European Middle Ages. He analyzes how Christian sacred spaces—including churches, chapels, shrines, and processions—were used to articulate dissent and discontent through their symbolic repertoire.
Key research themes include religious culture, authority negotiation, lay participation in medieval society, and the spatial dimensions of social conflict. His work builds on extensive research in medieval episcopal registers, inquisition depositions, and chronicles.
