Gus Ramirez is a Lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts at Bennington College, where they joined in Spring 2024. Ramirez is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cohoes, New York, specializing in 2D and digital media to explore queer identities and representation in a binary world.
Education:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art with a Concentration in Drawing and a minor in Graphic Design from the University of Texas at El Paso
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from New Mexico State University
Ramirez’s work integrates historical references with interdisciplinary visual approaches to challenge established religious and gender norms, creating a contemplative space for queer, gender-fuck, and first-generation Mexican-American identities. Their practice unites diverse media to construct a queer adjacent history.

- New Mexico Indivisible Young Artist Fellowship
Academic Activities: Ramirez teaches courses such as Digital Image Compositing (Fall 2025), Adobe InDesign Basics (Spring 2026), Digital Text Layout (Spring 2025), and Digital Design Basics (Fall 2024) in the fields of Design and Visual Arts. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally across the United States and Mexico.
