Mathew Kelly serves as an Associate Professor of Art in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Central College, where he has taught since 2006. His office is located in Lubbers Center 101.
His educational background includes:
- B.A. from University of New Hampshire
- M.F.A. from Syracuse University
Professor Kelly specializes in drawing, printmaking, book arts, paper making, entomology, graphic design, and theater set design and construction. His artistic practice demonstrates a unique interdisciplinary approach that bridges traditional art forms with scientific inquiry, particularly in entomology. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States, with examples available on his professional website at www.mathewkelly.wordpress.com. Kelly has made significant contributions to academic resources, serving as editor of and contributor to the instructor's manual for "Launching the Imagination: A Comprehensive Guide to Basic Design by Mary Stewart."
Professor Kelly has been actively engaged in the academic community beyond the classroom, having served as a board member of Integrative Teaching International and as Editor of ITI's online journal "Future Forward" for three years. In spring 2016, he taught Drawing and Painting, and Stories from the Yucatán classes in Central's Study Abroad program in Mérida, Mexico.
