Professor Gursel Alici is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong. He holds a PhD in Robotics from Oxford University (1994) and has served as Head of the School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering (2011-2021). His research focuses on soft robotics, medical robotics, and prosthetic devices, with over 400 refereed publications and an h-index of 55.

Awards: Vice-Chancellor's Interdisciplinary Research Excellence Award (2013), Outstanding Contributions to Teaching Award (2010), and recognition for research supervision (2018).
Grants and Leadership: Led over 30 externally and internally funded projects, including ARC Centres and industry collaborations. Supervised 44 higher-degree research students in areas like adaptive control systems, prosthetic hand development, and robotic drug delivery.
Labs/Teams: Director of the Advanced Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering Research (AMBER) Group and leader of the Soft Robotics for Prosthetic Devices theme.
