Gurinder Mann serves as a Lecturer in Punjabi Language and Culture at the Department of Asian Studies within the Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on Punjabi romantic folktales (qisse) in poetic form, particularly the Hir Ranjha narrative which formed his thesis. He possesses extensive knowledge of Hindi-Urdu language and South Asian Film, teaching courses across these domains while also establishing himself as a published poet with his 2022 work Jazbaatan Da Kinara.
Complementing his academic work, Mann holds a Master's degree in Applied Legal Studies and brings significant professional experience as executive director of a community justice organization and six years in intelligence with BC's Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC). This dual expertise enabled him to instruct law enforcement officers at the Justice Institute of BC, creating a unique bridge between South Asian cultural studies and practical justice applications.
