Guri Ranum Ekås is a Lecturer at the Division of Surgery, University of Oslo. Her research focuses on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, particularly in pediatric and elite athlete populations, with an emphasis on long-term outcomes, surgical management, and prevention strategies. She contributes to international collaborations like the Paediatric Anterior Cruciate Ligament Initiative (PAMI) and has published extensively on ACL injury epidemiology, meniscal tear risks, and orthopedic registry analyses.
Her work bridges clinical practice and research, addressing gaps in surgical decision-making and advocating for evidence-based treatments. She holds affiliations with Akershus University Hospital and the University Board’s research centers, contributing to Norway’s orthopedic research landscape. Ekås’ studies often utilize longitudinal follow-up designs to assess the lifelong impact of childhood ACL injuries on knee health and athletic participation.
Key research interests include: pediatric ACL reconstruction trends, ACL injury prevention in sports, growth plate preservation during surgery, and the psychological and functional adaptation of injured athletes. She also explores infection risks in open fractures and the role of international registries in standardizing care.
