Anne Fältström is an Affiliated Researcher and Docent at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences. She holds a clinical role at the Rehabilitation Centre, Ryhov County Hospital, Jönköping, and teaches within the Physiotherapy Programme. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic research, focusing on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in football athletes.
Her research investigates reinjury risk factors, return-to-sport dynamics, and rehabilitation strategies for ACL-injured athletes. Key areas include psychological and biomechanical factors influencing recovery, with a focus on adolescent female football players. She collaborates with institutions like the Karolinska Institute and the Swedish National Knee Ligament Registry.
Recent publications highlight associations between psychological distress, sleep patterns, and musculoskeletal injuries; age-related ACL reinjury risks; and the role of knee strength in injury prevention. These studies contribute to evidence-based clinical guidelines for athletic injury prevention.
Dr. Fältström’s academic contributions are supported by her dual role in clinical care and education. She is part of Linköping University’s Division of Physiotherapy and the Prevention, Rehabilitation and Community Medicine unit, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare research.
