Dr. Michèle Keizer is a researcher and teacher at the Center for Human Movement Sciences, part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. Her work focuses on orthopedic rehabilitation, particularly neuromuscular and biomechanical control of the knee joint following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and reconstructions. She explores topics like graft selection in ACL surgery, patient-specific outcomes, psychological factors in post-surgical recovery, and joint stability mechanics.
Education background includes a PhD (2021) titled Neuromuscular Control of Knee Laxity after an Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction from the University of Groningen.
Her research emphasizes ACL reconstruction techniques, knee laxity, and functional outcomes in sports. Recent work evaluates graft efficacy, osteoarthritis risks, and the role of lateral extra-articular tenodesis in revision surgeries. She also investigates biomechanical adaptations during movement tasks and psychological impacts on rehabilitation progress.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on programming and orientation to medical teaching, reflecting her dual role in education and research.
