Dr. Guillermo Sapiro is the Edmund T. Pratt, Jr. School Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. Previously, he held the Distinguished McKnight University Professor and Vincentine Hermes-Luh Chair at the University of Minnesota and conducted post-doctoral research at MIT.
Dr. Sapiro’s research focuses on computer vision, computer graphics, medical imaging, and machine learning. His work includes developing AI tools for autism screening, analyzing medical imaging data for neurological disorders, and advancing algorithms for data science applications.
He has authored over 300 papers and a textbook published by Cambridge University Press (2001). His recent projects highlight interdisciplinary applications in neuroscience (STN MRI analysis), data science (NMF compression), and energy infrastructure mapping using aerial imagery.
