معرفی
Gui Aksit is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Geology at Whitman College. She earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Ohio University and a B.S. in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington, and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Earth Sciences with a specialization in Volcanology from the University of Oregon.
- Research Focus: Combines structural geology with volcanology to study magma emplacement mechanisms, volcanic hazards, and plutonic-volcanic relationships.
- Key Projects: Field-based studies of silicic magmatic dikes at Summer Coon Volcano (CO), tephra mapping at Mt. Rainier (WA), and detrital zircon analysis in Türkiye's Nallihan Basin.
Gui's recent publications (2023) highlight her work on dike emplacement dynamics, rhyolitic magma behavior, and structural controls on volcanic eruptions. Her research utilizes fieldwork, petrographic analysis, and fracture mechanics to improve hazard assessment at volcanic arcs.
