Agust Gudmundsson

Agust Gudmundsson is a Professor and Chair of Structural Geology at Royal Holloway, University of London. Previously, he held professorial roles at the University of Göttingen, University of Bergen, and Nordic Volcanological Institute, University of Iceland. His research spans volcanotectonics, seismotectonics, fluid transport in fractured reservoirs, and thermodynamics of geological networks, with applications to geothermal energy, urban sustainability, and hazard assessment.

Dr. Gudmundsson's work integrates field studies, analytical modeling, and numerical simulations to explore magma-driven fractures, earthquake mechanics, and energy implications of urban street networks. He has led European projects on volcanic risk and contributed to foundational texts like Volcanotectonics: Understanding the Structure, Deformation, and Dynamics of Volcanoes (2020) and Rock Fractures in Geological Processes (2011).
