Guhan Subramanian is the Joseph Flom Professor of Law and Business at Harvard Law School and the Douglas Weaver Professor of Business Law at Harvard Business School. He is the first individual to hold tenured appointments at both institutions. His roles include faculty chair for the JD/MBA program, the Program on Negotiation at HLS, and the Mergers & Acquisitions executive education course at HBS. Prior to Harvard, he worked at McKinsey & Company.

His research focuses on corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and negotiation strategies. He has published extensively in top journals like Stanford Law Review, Harvard Business Review, and Yale Law Journal. Recent work examines stakeholder considerations in M&A transactions and the impact of pandemic-era legal frameworks on dealmaking.
He has served as an expert witness or advisor in over $200 billion worth of deals, including high-profile cases like the Dell management buyout and the Murdoch succession battle. He currently chairs LKQ Corporation (NASDAQ: LKQ) and serves as a director at McGraw-Hill Inc. (NYSE: MH).
