Dr. Gudrun-Christine Schimpf is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Social Investment (CSI) within the Max-Weber Institute of Sociology at Heidelberg University. She holds a Dr. phil. from Heidelberg University and a Master’s in History and Political Science, with a focus on cultural history and gender studies during her studies at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on social innovations, urbanization history, foundations, civic engagement, and gender studies. She has contributed to projects like ITISS (SNF/DFG), WiWiSoGe, and FASI (BMBF), among others.
Her work spans interdisciplinary collaboration, historical analysis of social policies, and policy-oriented research on social innovation impacts. Notable awards include the Otto-Borst-Preis (2005) for her thesis on cultural policy in Frankfurt (1866–1933). She has co-edited volumes on cultural landscapes and social innovation, and her publications address sustainability, urban development, and transdisciplinary methodologies.
Dr. Schimpf has held roles such as exhibition curator in Pforzheim and research assistant at the Arbeitskreis für moderne Sozialgeschichte. Her current projects emphasize knowledge transfer and policy analysis, reflecting her commitment to bridging academic and practical approaches to societal challenges.
