Guadalupe Francia

Guadalupe Francia is a Professor at the University of Gävle, specializing in policies and practices for equity in education. She co-leads Work Package 7 (Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion) in EU GREEN and has served as Head of the Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Domain in Innovative Learning (2020-2022). She leads the Research Group SEEDS (Studies in Education for Equity, Democracy, and Sustainability) since 2018.

Her research spans educational equity, gender equality, migrant children’s education, school violence, and intersections with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Agenda 2030. She has conducted comparative studies in Sweden, Spain, Argentina, and Ireland, focusing on pandemic-era policies, teacher training, and digital well-being.

Recent publications address cyberbullying frameworks, classroom climate impacts on bullying, and sustainable citizenship in teacher education. Her work emphasizes systemic equity challenges, including biopolitical dimensions of school closures, Roma inclusion policies, and neoliberal influences on education systems.

She has contributed to over 80 publications across English, French, Spanish, and Swedish. Her practical experience includes teaching in Sweden (mother tongue instruction) and Argentina (primary education), informing her interdisciplinary approach to equity and social sustainability.
