Gráinne Ford

Gráinne Ford is Course Lead for MSc Dietetics at Health Sciences University (formerly AECC University College), where she is affiliated with the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. A registered Dietitian since 2001, she completed her BSC in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and has extensive clinical experience across acute specialties including stroke, diabetes, nutrition support, and surgical oncology.

Dr. Ford's research interests center on population health and health inequalities, with particular focus on how organizational culture influences accountability for nutrition and hydration in hospital patients. She is enthusiastic about stronger partnerships between education and healthcare providers and has extensive leadership experience in allied health professions. Her current research examines multidisciplinary approaches to food and nutritional care for hospitalized patients and investigates digital solutions to improve nutritional care delivery.

Her publications demonstrate expertise in translating research into practice, particularly in cancer survivor nutrition support and hospital nutritional care systems. These works reflect her commitment to evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare settings.

As an academic leader, Dr. Ford serves as clinical supervisor to a PhD student through a partnership with Bournemouth University. She has also chaired the acute trusts nutrition steering group and led the UHD NHS allied health professionals and healthcare scientists leads groups, developing combined strategies to advocate for professional roles in healthcare.

Dr. Ford maintains active membership in the British Dietetic Association and is passionate about driving change in hospital catering and food provision for both staff and patients. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, service development, and creating effective models of care across healthcare systems.
