Grgo Grbešić is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Theology, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Đakovo. He teaches Church History (Modern and Contemporary Periods), Methodology of Scientific Work, and specialized courses like History of Christian Mysticism. He served as Vice-Dean for Development and Economic Issues (2014-2018) and Head of the Student Dormitory (2011-2018). A member of the Croatian Historical Institute in Rome since 2021, his research focuses on Church-State relations, religious conversions during WWII, and Croatian-Serbian historical tensions.
- Research Interests: Church history under totalitarian regimes, interfaith dynamics in the Balkans, Strossmayer's legacy, historical theology, and religious tolerance.
- Academic Leadership: Organized three 2015 international conferences on Strossmayer, edited proceedings, and initiated an HRT documentary.
- Public Engagement: Delivered lectures on Church history across Croatia, Europe, and Switzerland, including a 2024 lecture at Evangelical Theological College, Osijek.
- Publications: Authored 15+ works, including books on Đakovo Jewish camps (2024) and articles analyzing Church responses to totalitarianism, historical conversions, and theological movements.
