Gretchen Shae is a faculty member in the Liberal Arts Department at Berklee College of Music, where she teaches writing. She also actively performs and composes music with her bands, Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight and Gretchen & The Banshees (a Siouxsie & The Banshees tribute). Notably, she performed with U2 at the TD Bank Garden in Boston in 2014, and her song 'Dionysius' was included in WZLX’s Top Ten Local Picks of 2014.
Shae is deeply involved in social advocacy, serving as a board member for New Beginnings Re-entry Services, a nonprofit supporting formerly incarcerated women in Massachusetts. She developed a course on Mass Incarceration, merging her passions for education, social justice, and artistic expression. This initiative earned her the Berklee Urban Service Award in 2019.
