Gretchen Saunders is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, with expertise in behavioral genetics and psychiatric disorders. Holding a PhD in Psychology (2019) and a postdoctoral specialization in statistical genetics (2019-2022), she combines genomic research with developmental psychology.
- Education: BA in Psychology (Chapman University, 2009), MS in Statistics (University of Minnesota, 2017)
Her research focuses on genetic risk factors for externalizing behaviors, ADHD, and substance use across developmental stages. Using twin studies and genomic epidemiology, she investigates gene-environment interactions in behavioral outcomes.
Recent publications emphasize transgenerational genetic effects on tobacco/alcohol use (2024), neuroticism neurogenetics (2023), and developmental psychopathology modeling (2024-2025). Her work appears in high-impact journals across behavioral genetics and public health domains.
