Greig Inglis is a Lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland's School of Education and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD and has extensive experience in public health research, having worked at institutions like the Glasgow Centre for Population Health and the Scottish Government. His research focuses on psychosocial determinants of mental health and well-being, particularly how socioeconomic factors like income and poverty-based stigma influence population mental health. Current projects include collaborations with the Poverty Alliance and Mental Health Foundation to address mental health inequalities. He has led studies on young carers' health, stigma experiences, and policy implications of poverty.
Research interests span poverty stigma, socioeconomic status and well-being, and application of Self-Determination Theory to basic psychological needs. Recent work emphasizes applied public health interventions and participatory research methods. He has published over 17 articles, with recent publications addressing drug-related mortality in Scotland, poverty stigma in Wales and the UK, and population density’s role in non-communicable diseases.
In 2020, he organized the UWS-Oxfam Partnership Policy Forum, highlighting engagement with policy-making. While no formal awards are listed, his work contributes to UN SDGs targeting poverty reduction and good health (SDG 3 & 1). He is actively supervising PhD students and exploring innovative data collection methods for social determinants of health.
