Gregory W. Whitledge

Gregory W. Whitledge is a Professor in the Department of Zoology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His research focuses on fish ecology and management, utilizing stable isotopes and chemical markers to study fish-habitat relationships, bioenergetics, and invasive species control.

His work spans applications of otolith and fin ray chemistry for tracking fish environmental history, electrofishing monitoring in the Ohio River, and evaluating population dynamics of catfishes and spotted bass. Collaborations include the Illinois Natural History Survey and USGS.

Recent publications emphasize aquatic invasive species management, stable isotope applications, and fish-habitat interactions across Midwestern rivers, reservoirs, and Great Lakes ecosystems. He teaches courses in fisheries management, stable isotopes, and fish ecology.
