معرفی
Gregory Sullivan is a Professor of Physics at the University of Maryland (UMD), where he has served since 1995. He holds leadership roles including Department Associate Chair for Graduate Studies and Facilities/Personnel, and has been a key figure in high energy physics. A Fellow of the American Physical Society and UMD 'Rainmaker' for research funding, his work focuses on particle astrophysics, notably the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole. As IceCube spokesperson (2011-2013), he contributed to the 2013 Physics World Breakthrough of the Year—first cosmic neutrino detection—and co-won the 2016 Breakthrough Prize in Physics.
His research emphasizes neutrino astronomy and cosmic ray origins, leveraging IceCube's unique Antarctic infrastructure. Sullivan also advises NSF's geosciences directorate and Antarctic sciences committee, bridging particle physics with interdisciplinary collaboration.
Notable achievements include groundbreaking neutrino detection studies and contributions to multi-messenger astrophysics. His awards reflect both experimental innovation and institutional impact.
