Gregory S. CHIRIKJIAN is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), serving on leave of absence (LOA). He previously held the position of Head of Department at NUS from 2019-2023 and was a Professor and Department Chair at Johns Hopkins University (2004-2007). His research focuses on robotics, applications of group theory in engineering, and mechanics of biological macromolecules.
Dr. Chirikjian's academic credentials include over 200 journal/conference publications and authorship of three influential books. Notable works include Engineering Applications of Noncommutative Harmonic Analysis (2001) and the two-volume Stochastic Models, Information Theory, and Lie Groups (2009, 2011). His expanded 2016 book Harmonic Analysis for Engineers and Applied Scientists reflects his enduring contributions to applied mathematics.
