Gregory D. Hager is the Mandell Bellmore Professor of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, with joint appointments in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Surgery. He leads the Computational Interaction and Robotics Lab (CIRL), focusing on vision-based robotics, medical applications, and human-machine collaboration. His work spans surgical robotics, AI-driven healthcare systems, and industrial automation.
Education:
- BA in Mathematics and Computer Science, Luther College (1983)
- MS and PhD in Computer Science, University of Pennsylvania (1986, 1988)
Research Interests: Robotics, Computer Vision, Medical Imaging, Surgical Training, AI in Healthcare. He pioneers systems for autonomous surgical tools, real-time guidance, and skill assessment.
