Dr. Axel Krieger is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, with a secondary appointment in Computer Science. He directs the Intelligent Medical Robotic Systems and Equipment (IMERSE) Lab, focusing on autonomous medical robotics, image-guided interventions, and surgical automation. His work includes the Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot (STAR), which achieved milestone autonomous soft-tissue suturing in 2022.
