Gregory Laidlaw

Gregory Laidlaw serves as the Department Chair and Lecturer in the Department of Cybersecurity & Information Systems at the University of Detroit Mercy. He has over 25 years of IT consulting experience in small enterprises and local government, with expertise spanning network infrastructure design, system security, and data integration. Currently, he focuses on research areas such as secure systems, human factors in security, and design usability.

His research emphasizes practical cybersecurity solutions for small businesses and government sectors, integrating agile methodologies into IT projects. As a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), he maintains professional affiliations with ISSACA, InfraGard, ISC², and serves as a Macomb County Reserve Deputy. Gregory joined the University in September 2011 and assumed his role as Department Chair in fall 2018.
