Professor Gregory Jackson holds the Chair of Human Resource Management and Labor Politics at the Department of Management, Freie Universität Berlin. His research focuses on corporate governance, institutional theory, and comparative political economy, with a particular emphasis on Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US. Jackson's work bridges economic sociology, organizational analysis, and political economy, examining topics such as corporate responsibility, inequality, and governance configurations.
Education: PhD in Sociology from Columbia University (2002), MA in Sociology from Columbia University (1996), BA in Sociology and German Literature from University of Wisconsin-Madison (1992).
Research Interests: Jackson explores how organizational and institutional contexts shape corporate governance and responsibility, with recent work addressing climate change, socio-economic inequality, and CSR in globalized settings. His methodological toolkit includes quantitative analysis, qualitative case studies, and fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fs/QCA).
Grants & Awards: Principal investigator for projects funded by DFG, EU FP7, ERSC, and Japanese Ministry of Economy. His work has been featured in The Economist, Financial Times, and BBC Radio.
