Gregory J. Kirsch is an Adjunct Professor of patent law at Emory University School of Law since 1997 and at Washington University School of Law since 2011. He is also a Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Practice at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, providing patent counsel to multinational corporations, start-ups, and universities.
His academic foundation includes a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa (1987) and a J.D. from Washington University School of Law (1990), where he served as Notes & Comments Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly.
Mr. Kirsch's research and teaching focus on Intellectual Property Law, Patent Law, and Technology Law, with specialized expertise across software, business methods, computer technology, electronics, communications, medical technology, and electromechanics. His practical experience includes preparing and prosecuting hundreds of patents globally across these technological domains.
