معرفی
Dr. Gregory Dunning is a Professor and Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland, located within the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on applying U/Pb geochronology to determine precise ages of rocks and document geological processes in orogenic belts globally. He leads studies in regions such as the Appalachian-Caledonian Mountain Belt (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, Quebec, Norway) and the Variscan Belt (Spain), alongside Proterozoic and Archean terranes in Labrador, Greenland, and the Northwest Territories.
- Key Research Areas: Igneous, metamorphic, and deformation events; mineral deposit formation.
- Contact: Office ER 5007A | Phone: 709-864-8481 | Email: gdunning@mun.ca
His work integrates multiple mineral geochronometers (zircon, monazite, titanite, rutile) to analyze the timing and rates of tectonic processes. While no specific publications or awards are listed here, his research emphasizes understanding Earth's dynamic history through geochronological techniques.
