Gregory Bavington

Gregory Bavington is an Adjunct Lecturer in Entrepreneurship & Innovation (ENIN) at Queen's University. He serves as Special Advisor to the Provost for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Executive Director of the Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre. He holds a B.Sc. (Eng) in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University (1985) and is a Licensed Professional Engineer. His career spans 25+ years in entrepreneurship, including roles as co-founder, President, and CEO of an environmental company specializing in automotive components from recycled materials. He also co-founded a medical devices company commercializing respiratory products. Previously, he worked in engineering at Hatch and General Motors, managing large global projects. He currently sits on several manufacturing and process-industry company boards, Queen’s University Council, and the Engineering Society Board of Directors.

Research interests focus on innovation ecosystems, sustainable technology commercialization, and bridging academic engineering with industry applications. His professional experience emphasizes translating technical innovation into scalable business ventures. Active in fostering startup ecosystems at Queen’s through the Innovation Centre, he combines academic engagement with real-world entrepreneurial leadership.

He has served as an adjunct instructor across three faculties at Queen’s, reflecting his commitment to education in innovation and engineering disciplines. Beyond professional roles, he is an avid sailor, cyclist, and hockey coach.
