Gregory B. Fairchild

Gregory B. Fairchild is the Isidore Horween Research Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and serves as Associate Dean for Washington, D.C., area initiatives and Dean/CEO of UVA | Northern Virginia. He holds an MBA from Darden and PhD from Columbia University. His expertise spans entrepreneurship, ethics, and community development finance, with a focus on financial inclusion and economic revitalization.

Research Interests: Dr. Fairchild's work addresses systemic barriers in financial access, particularly for marginalized communities. He has pioneered initiatives linking entrepreneurship to social impact, publishing Emerging Domestic Markets and leading MacArthur Foundation-funded research on Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). His work bridges academia with real-world policy, influencing public pension funds and economic development agencies.

Awards: Recognized as 2018 MBA Professor of the Year and recipient of the Aspen Institute's Pioneer Award (2009) for integrating ethics into curricula. Honored with UVA's Public Service Award (2020) for community-focused initiatives.

Service & Impact: Served on the Virginia Retirement Service Investment Advisory Board (2009–2012), US Treasury Community Advisory Board (2017–), and founded Resilience Education to provide equitable educational opportunities.
