Dr. Gregor Maucec is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Liverpool's School of Law and Social Justice, part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He joined in July 2023 after holding positions including Assistant Professor at New University’s Faculty of Government and European Studies, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships at the University of Copenhagen and Amsterdam, and postdoctoral roles at Kyoto University and the European University Institute.
His research focuses on international law, judicial behavior, minority protection, and migration law, employing interdisciplinary methods from psychology and sociology. Notable projects include studying 'thinking-fast' decision-making by international criminal judges and investigating intersectionality in mass atrocity cases.
Recent publications explore judicial intuition, migration detention policies, and EU border management. He is a member of the Central European Professors' Network on migration challenges and teaches EU Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
