Greg P. Carman is a Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he has been affiliated since 1991. He serves as Director of the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Translational Applications of Nanoscale Multiferroic Materials (TANMS) and as Engineering Director of the Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology in the Department of Surgery at UCLA. Additionally, he acts as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures and Smart Materials and Structures.
Education:
- Ph.D., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1991)
His research focuses on analytical modeling, fabrication, and testing of multiferroic (magneto-electric) materials, with applications in medical devices. He has made significant contributions to smart materials and structures, recognized through multiple awards and fellowships.
