Dr. Greg Hall is a Professor and former Graduate Director in the Department of History at Western Illinois University (WIU), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He specializes in American history with a focus on labor, anarchism, and environmental history. His teaching includes courses on the American West, Illinois history, global and American environmental studies, and U.S. history graduate seminars.
Education: Ph.D. in History from Washington State University (1999). Previously taught at Idaho State University before joining WIU in 2003. Served as Graduate Director of History from 2010 to 2014.
Research Interests: Dr. Hall’s work explores labor movements in the American West, anarchist ideologies, and environmental history in Illinois. He has authored two books and numerous essays on these topics. Current research includes anarchism in Home Colony and environmental impacts of coal mining in Illinois.

Advising & Grants: Led the History Graduate Program and secured multiple research fellowships. His academic contributions span historical conferences and interdisciplinary collaborations.
